My mom knows I’m weird about feet and I don’t like when people borrow my shoes…yet she still puts her feet that are dirty from being outside in my house slippers which are strictly inside shoes. She knows I hate when she does that, and she didn’t even ask if she could wear them real quick, she just slipped thy empty on and got mad when I said “hey” and told me to calm down she was only going outside…like yeah. That’s the point. Those are inside shoes only. That’s why I bought them.

This weekend, activists in Uganda - a country where homosexuality is punishable by death - held their first Pride.

This is the epitome of courage. I have no other words.

This makes me soo fucking proud most of us in places like Nigeria and Uganda especially northern Nigeria, the punishment by law is getting stoned to death if you show any signs of being gay. This makes me sad that Me and thousands of others can’t be themselves but still, this is so FUCKING beautiful I am proud of the people of my African continent!

I just want to make it clear that the photo was taken, and the first Ugandan Pride was held, in 2012. Five years later they’re still celebrating Pride. Despite the fact that they face police raids and arrests, they’ve made this an annual event.

I lay in bed and I hear my sister crying in the bathroom and it breaks my heart. I failed to help her. She has no money to pay for bills, she has no money to take her son to the dentist or buy him new shoes. She sleep on the floor in my bedroom for five months now because she just doesn’t have any place to go.
She told me today that she keep thinking about killing herself.

I saw signal boosts where people asked for money because they wanted to go to Disneyland or they wanted to visit their friend in another state. And they got tons of donations. I’m not saying that you can’t raise money for less serious things. But I see my sister who has nothing at all right now and wonder why everyone ignore my asks for help. No one owns me money of course. That’s not what I’m saying. It just would be nice if some nice person or two send a few dollars. You would make a single mother and her son happy.

Once again dreading going to work. Its exhausting always switching between first and second shift. Tomorrow I have to call the school district and follow up on my application to be a lunch lady. Even if I’m a custodian it’d be better than this. My coworker is a part time custodian and she’s trying to get a full time position and loves it. I just want a steady schedule again.

if you don’t know what the safe third country agreement is:

the safe third country agreement is a bilateral treaty between the united states and canada asserting that refugees must claim status in the first safe country they arrive in (and in canada, the united states is the only country considered a safe third country) — which means, essentially, if a refugee travels to the united states, they must apply for refugee status there, and cannot pursue claims of refugee status in canada

this is relevant right now, in light of the current political climate of the united states, because:

the united states is considered a “safe third country”, so (predominantly latinx) refugees and undocumented migrants are deemed safe in the united states and cannot pursue refugee claims in canada if they’ve already been to the united states.

clearly, the united states is not any kind of sanctuary for refugees. families are being separated, children are being traumatized, people are being treated like animals, due process is being denied, human rights are being systemically violated, targeting a specific marginalized minority population.

to allow an escape from the atrocities the united states government is committing, refugees must be able to flee the united states and seek asylum in canada. under the safe third country agreement, they cannot.

it’s also important to remember that we had a policy like this in place before in canada — the continuous journey regulation, passed in 1908 as canada’s first attempt to restrict immigration. this order-in-council targeted asian — specifically indian — immigrants, stating that immigrants must make continuous passage to canada from their country of origin/birth. this targeted asians and indians in particular, as the transportation technology at the time meant that most indian immigrant ships needed to stop in japan or hawaii.

the continuous journey regulation resulted in the komagata maru incident, a massive xenophobic and racist tragedy that’s considered one of the greatest stains on canada’s history.

If you’re European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Here’s why.

On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the “Link Tax” and the “Censorship Machines” articles.

Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you won’t be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because it’s all copyrighted material. And you won’t also be able to share, enjoy or download other’s contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.

But not everything’s lost yet. There’s another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.

What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.
